TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian animated film Jumbo has drawn two million viewers within just 11 days of its theatrical release on Monday, March 31, 2025. Earlier, Jumbo made history by becoming the highest-grossing Indonesian animated film, reaching one million viewers by its seventh day in theaters.

Ryan Adriandhy, the film’s writer and director, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share the story on the big screen. He also shared his hope that the film, produced by Visinema Studios, will pave the way for greater opportunities in the Indonesian animation industry.

"Jumbo is our effort to share love, courage, and hope. This used to be just a dream, but it is you who have made it a reality. Every ticket purchased, every laughter and tear in the cinemas, all of it is a miracle to me. Hopefully, more dreams will come true after Jumbo," said Ryan Adriandhy on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The producer of Jumbo, Anggia Kharisma, expressed her emotion that the animated film created by more than 420 local creators has reached two million viewers.

"You are not just viewers, you are the soul of the film Jumbo. From children to families, and the children within you, your love is so tangible and real. This is an extraordinary form of collective support," said Anggia Kharisma.

Jumbo Set to Screen in Asia and Europe

Jumbo is set to go beyond Indonesian cinemas, with international screenings planned across several Asian and European countries. Beginning in June 2025, the film will be shown in theaters in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam.

Additionally, the animated feature will be released in a number of countries across Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia (including Abkhazia and South Ossetia), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Jumbo follows the story of Don, who often feels underestimated by his friends. To prove that he is more than just a large-bodied kid who never wins at anything, Don is determined to participate in a talent show by performing a stage play inspired by a book left by his parents.

However, everything changes when a bully steals the book and Don meets a young child who asks for his help to reunite with their parents.

Along with his new friend, Don goes through an engaging adventure that touches the heart, teaching the meaning of bravery, self-confidence, and true friendship.
