TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian badminton team departed for Kuala Lumpur to compete in the 2025 Malaysia Open, which is the opening tournament this year. The BWF Super 1000 level tournament will take place on January 7-12 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.

The women's doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi are aiming for a good start. They are trying to maintain a positive trend in 2024. Tiwi said that both of them have made preparations by maximizing their training time after the World Tour Finals ended.

"We want to achieve better results than last year," said Tiwi as quoted by the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) on Sunday, January 5, 2025. "Last year's achievements are our capital to face this year. There is a kind of increase in self-confidence," said Ana.

In this tournament, Ana / Tiwi will also be accompanied by a new coach. She is the women's doubles legend Nitya Krishinda Maheswari.

"So far, our communication with Ms. Titin (Nitya's nickname) has been quite smooth. She is a gentle, calm figure but has high discipline," explained Tiwi.

"Adaptation with Ms. Titin can be faster because when we were still in Pratama, Ms. Titin was a coach in Utama. Several times we were trained by her when there was joint training," said Ana.

Ana / Tiwi will fight to represent Indonesia with Lanny Tria Mayasari / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti for the women's doubles.

Meanwhile, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who was absent from the last few tournaments in 2024, is ready to make a comeback. Ginting said his injury had improved and he was ready to compete for Indonesia with Jonatan Christie in the men's singles.

"Hopefully, we can slowly return to our best performance. I definitely want to bounce back this year," said Ginting.

Women's singles coach Imam Tohari expressed his hopes for Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani. The two had to clash in the first round.

"Because there is not much time for the Malaysia Open, I am more focused on strengthening the techniques and strategies for Gregoria and Putri," explained Imam.

Previously, PBSI withdrew three Indonesian representatives from the 2025 Malaysia Open Tournament. They are Leo Rolly Carnando / Bagas Maulana, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri / Daniel Marthin, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo who are said to be better prepared for the 2025 Indonesia Masters.

In the meantime, here are the names that will be sent to the tournament as the Indonesian contingent. In the men's singles, there are Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. Then in the women's singles will be filled by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani.

In the men's doubles, there are Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianton and Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. Followed by women's doubles are Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti / Lanny Tria Mayasari. Meanwhile, the mixed doubles will be filled by Dejan Ferdinansyah / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
