TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said he has prepared 400 aircraft for transportation during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The capacity is sufficient for 8 million passengers spread across 56 airports in Indonesia.
"As an effort to ensure safety, the Ministry of Transportation continues to conduct ramp checks on operated aircraft to ensure the safety of flight passengers," he said in a written statement on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Dudy said he would ensure the safety and comfort of airline passengers during this period, including the readiness of airport infrastructure such as runways, terminals, aircraft parking facilities, and passenger services, as well as the fleet's readiness.
In addition, Dudy will coordinate with various parties such as airlines, airport managers, InJourney, AirNav, BMKG, SOEs Ministry, police, and military (TNI) to ensure smooth and safe flights.
Meanwhile, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said he would continue to work to maintain people's purchasing power during the Christmas season. One of the ways is to reduce the airfare by 10 percent. In addition, fares for other modes of transportation have been guaranteed to remain stable to ensure optimal service to people.
"Airline ticket prices have been reduced by 10 percent, they are still under control, and the capacity of 8 million is quite loose. There is also no increase in other transportation modes, such as train tickets with a capacity of 3.5 million, now starting to fill 50 percent," said the minister.
Erick Thohir also said that there would be no increase in tickets for sea transportation. Currently, Pelni ship with a capacity of 507,000 passengers has been filled with 58,000 passengers. The same applies to ASDP, which also ensures that fares remain stable.
