TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government plans to distribute 15,000 smart boards as the education digitalization program launched on the 2025 National Education Day. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti said the government has allocated a specific budget for distributing these interactive boards.
"The budget allocation is Rp2 trillion, and, insya Allah, this year we will start the realization for 15,000 education units," Mu'ti said after launching the education assistance program at SDN Cimahpar 5, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Friday, May 2, 2025.
According to Mu'ti, the digital boards are designed to enable schools in Indonesia to quickly adopt the concept of smart classrooms. Mu'ti stated that each school will receive one smart board unit.
He mentioned that students will be more enthusiastic and enjoy learning with these smart boards that can play videos. Mu'ti said the government will also train teachers to use the smart boards. "Because not all teachers can operate the smart boards," Mu'ti said.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto, who was also present at the National Education Day commemoration at SDN Cimahpar 5, announced the distribution target for the smart boards.
"I hope that within 2 months, the first schools will start receiving these television screens. My target is that within 1 year, by mid-2026, all schools in Indonesia can have these television screens," said Prabowo.
According to Prabowo, the presence of smart boards can help teachers explain learning materials. Teachers can use the same materials in a media document form.
"And this can be beneficial for schools, especially in remote, underdeveloped, and outermost areas, or even in urban areas that have difficulties obtaining materials or finding expert teachers in certain fields," he explained the purpose of the smart board assistance.
Prabowo plans to produce learning materials by gathering hundreds of the best teachers in a studio. All schools in Indonesia are asked to explain the learning materials that can be accessed.
Education digitalization is one of the four programs launched by Prabowo, coinciding with the 2025 National Education Day. Prabowo named it the Fast Best Result Program (PHTC), including the revitalization of 10,440 schools, a cash aid of Rp300,000 for honorary teachers every month, and educational fund aid for teachers who have not completed their undergraduate or professional degrees, amounting to Rp3 million per semester.
