TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar prayed for the recovery of Pope Francis who has been hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital in Rome since February 14, 2024. Nasaruddin expressed this while attending the Peace Forum at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Monday, February 24, 2025.

"Let us pray together for Pope Francis," said Nasaruddin Umar, as quoted from a written statement by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque considers the Pope as an extraordinary friend of humanity. "He has devoted himself to the people, dedicating himself to humanity," he said.

In his speech at the peace forum with Prabowo 08 Laskar in the VIP Room, Nasaruddin emphasized the importance of loving one another. He said that all religions should not hate and differentiate from each other.

"Universal truth cannot be divided. And whoever wants to talk about peace, come to Istiqlal. Istiqlal means independent," said Nasaruddin.

The Vatican's Holy See media team reported that Pope Francis' health is still critical but stable as cited by the Turkish news agency, Anadolu. "There are no acute respiratory attacks (ISPA) and the Pope's hemodynamic parameters are still stable," quoted Antara.

Anadolu reported that, on Monday night, the Vatican announced an improvement in the Pope's health condition.

"No respiratory disturbance episodes such as asthma occurred that day, and several laboratory test results showed improvement," the Vatican Press Office statement said.

The statement also mentioned that the mild kidney health problems experienced by the Pope did not raise concerns. The Pope resumed work and called a parish in Gaza on Monday night.

Pope Francis is receiving treatment at Gemelli Hospital due to double pneumonia. On Sunday, the Vatican stated that Pope Francis had received a blood transfusion to increase hemoglobin levels in his body.
