TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iran on April 2 vowed to launch “crushing” attacks against the United States and Israel, firing missiles toward Tel Aviv after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb the Islamic Republic “back to the Stone Ages.”
The Iranian military’s central command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, said the war would continue until Iran’s enemies faced “humiliation, disgrace, permanent and certain regret, and surrender,” according to a statement carried by Iranian state television.
In a separate statement, Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for the Khatam Al-Anbiya central headquarters, said US and Israeli assessments of Iran’s military strength were “incomplete,” rejecting Trump’s claim that Iran had been “essentially decimated.”
The warning came after Trump, in a 19-minute primetime address at the White House, said the United States was “very close” to achieving its military objectives but threatened to intensify strikes if Iran refused to negotiate.
“Over the next two to three weeks, we are going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong,” Trump said.
Iran responded quickly, launching missiles toward Tel Aviv, where Israeli air defenses were activated and police reported several impact sites. Israeli authorities said four people were lightly injured in the Tel Aviv area.
Israel said it also came under additional missile fire from Iran on Thursday, while the United Arab Emirates said its air defenses were once again responding to missile and drone threats.
The conflict, which erupted more than a month ago following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, has spread across the Middle East and disrupted the global economy, affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
