TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, met with a number of Muslim figures at the residence of Din Syamsuddin in South Jakarta on Friday, April 3, 2026. Boroujerdi called for unity in facing Israel and the United States.
He expressed his gratitude to Indonesia for being willing to act as a peace facilitator. "Thank you to the Indonesian government for expressing its willingness to bridge the gap for the realization of peace, to act as a facilitator in achieving peace in the region," expressed Boroujerdi at the residence of Din Syamsuddin, South Jakarta, on Friday, April 3, 2026.
Boroujerdi also extended his thanks to Din Syamsuddin, who is the Chairperson of the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC). He acknowledged the significant contribution that Din made to peace efforts at the regional and global levels. According to Boroujerdi, this meeting is also a momentum to form an alliance or association to oppose the war against Iran or other countries.
Similarly, Din Syamsuddin condemned the attacks by the United States and Israel. He asserted that the war is a humanitarian tragedy as it takes the lives of hundreds of children and women. "This violates the laws of Islamic warfare," said the former chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah.
Din emphasized that the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran do not have justifiable reasons from the perspective of international politics and international law. Moreover, these attacks aim to undermine the sovereignty of other countries. "This constitutes a vital violation," he said.
As a result, several Islamic figures in Indonesia are calling for a rejection of the attacks by Israel and the United States. United States President Donald Trump and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, are considered the source of global problems. "They should be made a common enemy for the world's citizens who love peace and justice," he said.
Among the attendees of the meeting were a number of Islamic figures, including Vice Chairperson of the Consultative Assembly of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Muhyiddin Junaidi and the Chairperson of the Central Leadership of Islamic Women, Marfuah Musthofa.
