TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - More than 150 Palestinian civilians were killed and injured on Thursday evening in an Israeli airstrike targeting around 10 houses in Jabalia, northern Gaza, where a siege began 20 days ago.
“A horrific massacre is unfolding in Jabalia, with over 150 martyrs and injured people due to Israeli shelling. No one is moving to rescue them,” the Gaza civil defense said in a statement, as quoted from Anadolu.
The statement added that the Israeli military targeted the houses belonging to Najjar, Abu Al-Ouf, Salman, Hijazi, Abu Al-Qumsan, Aqel Abu Rashid, Abu Al-Tarabish, Zaqoul, and Shaalan families.
According to the statement, the Israeli forces “bombed an entire residential block in the area.”
"Residents are facing extreme difficulty in evacuating the dead and wounded after the Israeli forces disrupted the operations of civil defense and medical services in the northern part of Gaza."
Previously, Israeli forces besieged hospitals in northern Gaza on Monday, October 21, preventing critical aid from reaching civilians, residents and medics said.
Medics at the Indonesian Hospital told Reuters that Israeli troops stormed a school and detained the men before setting it ablaze. The fire reached hospital generators and caused a power outage, they added.
Now, hospitals in the area have stopped providing medical services or are hardly operational due to the attacks. The total number of casualties from Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since last October is close to 43,000.
