TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and First Lady Yoshiko Ishiba arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday, January 10, 2025, at around 5:00 p.m. Jakarta time. Ishiba's arrival in Indonesia is part of an official visit from January 10-11, 2025.
According to the Press, Media and Information Office of the Presidential Secretariat, Ishiba and his wife were directly welcomed by Minister of Investment and Downstream/ Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masaki Yasushi, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi, Acting Governor of Banten Ucok Abdulrauf Damenta, and Acting Governor of Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi.
From the airport, Ishiba and his delegation proceeded to the hotel where he spent the night in Jakarta.
On Saturday, Ishiba was scheduled to visit the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta to lay a wreath and pay respects to national heroes.
Prime Minister Ishiba would also pay an official visit to the Presidential Palace in Bogor, attend a state ceremony, and meet with President Prabowo Subianto to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
Ishiba said that Indonesia was one of the countries he would visit on his first overseas trip. This is because Indonesia was considered to have a large economic market, so Japan's Ishiba wanted to improve relations with the Southeast Asian region.
Earlier, Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Their meeting was held behind closed doors.
