TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State toll road operator PT Jasa Marga added more electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) in the Travoy rest areas under its management. This is reportedly to support the sustainable energy transition program, which is a priority of President Prabowo's administration.

Lisye Octaviana, head of Jasa Marga's corporate communications and community development group, revealed that 22 EV charging stations will be available in 27 Travoy Rest Areas by January 2025, a significant increase from seven charging stations in 2023.

"We have also changed the type of socket on the SPKLU to fast charging so that it will only take 15-30 minutes to charge," he said. "This is our concrete step to support electric vehicle users," Lisye said in a written statement on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

By the end of 2024, Jasa Marga has added 15 SPKLUs at the Travoy Rest Area on major toll roads such as Batang-Semarang, Solo-Ngawi, Ngawi-Kertosono, Gempol-Pasuruan and Pandaan-Malang. Some new points include KM 360B, KM 391A, KM 538A, KM 575A, and KM 792B.

The installation of these EV charging stations, Lisye said, is the result of cooperation with state electricity company PT PLN in inter-SOE collaboration to expand the electric vehicle charging network while ensuring the use of environmentally friendly energy.

"This move has received a positive response from rest area users as it makes it easier for electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles while increasing confidence in the electric vehicle infrastructure in Indonesia," he said.

In addition, Jasa Marga has installed solar panels in several Travoy rest areas, including at KM 207A Palikanci section, KM 379A Batang-Semarang section, and KM 792A Gempol-Pasuruan section. These solar panels utilize solar energy to meet electricity needs efficiently and environmentally friendly.

In 2025, Jasa Marga, through its subsidiary PT Jasa Marga Related Business (JMRB), will expand the EV charging station network to include the Balikpapan-Samarinda and Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi routes. Solar panels will also be installed at the Travoy rest areas KM 575A and KM 597A.
