TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Judicial Commission (KY) has not ruled out implementing a work-from-anywhere (WFA) system. This decision comes as a result of a budget cut of Rp74.5 billion.

"It might not be WFH (work from home), but rather work-from-anywhere," said KY spokesperson Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata during a virtual press conference via the Zoom platform on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Mukti hesitated to elaborate on the working system in the office, stating that it falls within the realm of the Secretary General of the Judicial Commission. They have also not decided on this matter. "But indeed, there is likely to be significant efficiency through WFA," he said.

KY faced a budget cut in 2025 of Rp74.7 billion, down from the initial plan of Rp100 billion. Vice Chairperson of KY, Siti Nurdjanah, stated that the initial budget allocation for KY in 2025 was Rp184,526,343,000. With the budget cut, the effective budget for KY in 2025 is now Rp109,826,343,000

She explained that KY is a low-budget institution that does its work in the central and 20 regional areas through its connectors. The budget cut, according to Siti, clearly impacts public service and the enforcement of the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Judges (KEPPH).

KY requested an increase in their budget to Rp172,933,843,330. "The budget efficiency will undoubtedly have an impact on the plans and targets for carrying out tasks in 2025, including aspects of public service and enforcement of KEPPH," she said.

To offset the budget cut, the Vice Chairperson of KY Siti Nurdjanah stated that their institution must make adjustments. One of them is to reduce office expenses by 40 percent.

"The detailed efficiency includes electricity, water in the central and regional areas, renting offices for KY connectors in 20 regions, renting official vehicles, fuel expenses, leadership operational costs, entertainment expenses, and honorariums," said Siti during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Legal Commission at the Senayan parliamentary complex, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
