TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The hashtag #KaburAjaDulu went viral on the social media platform X in late January and early February 2025. This trend contains advice from various Indonesian diasporas abroad, inviting people to follow in their footsteps and work in other countries. They share their experiences working abroad as immigrants and compare life in other countries with that in Indonesia.
One crucial thing to consider before packing your bags and moving to another country is whether it is welcoming to new faces. So, which countries are friendly to immigrants?
1. Canada
As reported by Global Passport, Canada has been a popular destination for people who want to move to another country for many years. The country is known for its beautiful natural scenery, vast and sparsely populated areas, bustling cities, multicultural atmosphere, and various job options for young and skilled workers.
Historically, Canada has a strong history of accepting immigrants and helping them assimilate into society. Since 2001, the number of immigrants entering the country has fluctuated between 221,352 and 262,236 annually. Over 90 percent of immigrants choose to live in or near metropolitan cities such as Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal.
2. New Zealand

3. Australia

The country boasts unique natural beauty, great climate, and a good education system, solidifying its position as one of the main destinations for people who want to live, study, work, or visit.
4. The United States
America has a long history of accepting people from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Many affluent foreigners have used the EB-5 U.S. Investor Visa to obtain a U.S. Green Card. The U.S. has been able to withstand global depression and financial crises due to its economic strength. The U.S. dollar is the world's primary reserve currency, demonstrating stability.
According to polls in all countries, The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), American citizens have the highest average household income in the world. In addition, the United States ranks first for food affordability and security in the Global Food Security Index.
5. Germany
Germany has the largest economy in Europe and is the second most densely populated country. The best laboratories and research institutions can be found here. As a result, students who want to continue their research choose universities and institutions in Germany. People immigrate to Germany for education, work, and business purposes.
After immigrating and living for a certain period, you could obtain a permanent or temporary residence permit and travel to EU/EEA countries without limitations.
