TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Team coach Patrick Kluivert has announced a 27-man squad for the FIFA Match Day in September, which will be held under the banner of the Garuda Championship Series 2025 in Surabaya.
The Garuda squad is set to face Kuwait on September 5 and Lebanon on September 8 at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium.
From the domestic competition, 11 players from the Super League 2025/2026 have been called up. Dewa United contributes the most, with Ricky Kambuaya, Egy Maulana Vikri, and Stefano Lilipaly. Defending champions Persib Bandung, along with Persija Jakarta and Malut United, each send two players: Marc Klok and Beckham Putra from Persib, central defenders Jordi Amat and Rizky Ridho from Persija, and the Sayuri brothers, Yakob and Yance, from Malut. Goalkeepers Nadeo Argawinata (Borneo FC) and Ernando Ari Sutaryadi (Persebaya) complete the domestic roster.
Among them, Klok is the only player recalled for the first time under Kluivert. The 32-year-old midfielder, once a mainstay during Shin Tae-yong’s era in 2022–2023, had been sidelined since March 2024. If fielded, he will mark his 20th appearance for the Garuda squad.
Kluivert has also summoned 15 players who ply their trade abroad. They include Emil Audero (Cremonese) and Jay Idzes (Sassuolo) from Italy, Kevin Diks (Borussia Mönchengladbach) from Germany, Marselino Ferdinan (Oxford United) from England, as well as several Dutch-born players such as Mees Hilgers (FC Twente) and Justin Hubner (Fortuna Sittard). Thom Haye, most recently with Almere City, enters the squad as the only free agent.
The upcoming friendlies are designed as preparation for Indonesia’s campaign in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in October, where they will face Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Both Kuwait and Lebanon were selected as sparring partners due to their comparable playing styles to Middle Eastern teams.
