TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Korean government is hosting welcoming events for foreign tourists starting this week. The event called Korea Welcome Week 2025 aims to enhance the comfort of travel and provide a positive experience for tourists visiting the country.

Korea Welcome Week 2025 takes place from April 25 to May 16, 2025. This period coincides with the peak season of foreign tourist travel, including Golden Week in Japan, Labor Day holidays in China, and the Second APEC Senior Officials' Meeting in Jeju.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with the Visit Korea Committee, has prepared welcome booths managed by multilingual staff proficient in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, ready to provide regional travel tips. This includes practical guidance on mobile services, transportation, and payment options.

In addition to the welcome booths, showcase traditional Korean crafts such as patchwork, hanji, and pearl adornments, the event connects tourists with direct craft experience programs throughout the country. These booths will be present at three major airports: Incheon International Airport, Gimpo, and Jeju.

However, their operating hours vary. As reported by the Korea Times, the welcome booths at Incheon International Airport and Gimpo operate from 10 am to 6 pm from April 25 to May 10, 2025. Meanwhile, at Jeju International Airport, they operate from May 2 to 16, 2025.

The welcome booth at Incheon International Airport is between Gates 7 and 8, Terminal 1, Floor 1. While at Gimpo International Airport, it is near the international arrival area on Floor 1, and at Jeju International Airport, it is near Gate 3, the domestic and international arrival area, on Floor 1.

In addition, the welcome booth will also be present at the International Passenger Terminal of Busan Port for International Cruise. For this terminal, the welcome booth will be opened twice, on May 10 and 15, 2025, coinciding with the arrival of international cruise ships at 4 pm.

A digital tourism guide map is available at the welcome booth and the Visit Korea website, created using the Naver multilingual map platform. The map includes locations for craft experiences, regional tour locations, currency exchange offices, shopping centers, and comprehensive facilities. Additionally, discounts, vouchers, and souvenirs are also offered to foreign tourists who visit the welcome stand.

As reported by Yonhap, the Visit Korea Committee has organized similar welcoming events during the peak tourist season since 2023. Plans are in place to hold Korea Welcome 2025 once again in the fall, coinciding with the APEC Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju from October to November. The welcome booths will be set up at major international airports, train stations, and ports to welcome foreign visitors.
