TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded the former President Director of Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, Yoory Corneles Pinontoan, to refund an alleged corruption money of Rp31.17 billion. KPK prosecutors assessed that Yoory was guilty of embezzling the funds in the alleged corruption case of zero down payment (DP) housing project land in Pulo Gebang, East Jakarta in 2018.
The demand was conveyed by the KPK in the continuation of Yoory C Corneles' trial at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court. The KPK asked the panel of judges to sentence Yoory to replace the funds. "Imposing additional criminal penalty of replacement money amounting to Rp 31,175,089,000," said the KPK Public Prosecutor at the Corruption Court on Monday, December 2, 2024.
KPK prosecutors asked Yoory to replace the Rp31.17 billion within one month at the latest after the final and binding court decision. If not, the KPK will auction off Yoory's seized assets to cover the losses from the alleged corruption criminal act.
"If the assets are insufficient to pay the replacement money, then it will be substituted with a 3-year prison sentence," said the anti-corruption institution's prosecutor to the judge.
KPK prosecutors also requested the panel of judges to impose a sentence of imprisonment and a fine on Yoory. "Imposing punishment on the defendant with a 5-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp300 million, subsider 6 months of imprisonment," said the KPK prosecutor in the trial.
KPK assessed that Yoory C Pinontoan has been proven to have committed corruption offenses jointly. The former President Director of Sarana Jaya has acted against the law causing state financial losses as regulated in Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor).
Currently, Yoory is detained in the Sukamiskin Penitentiary, Bandung, West Java after being found guilty in the corruption case of land procurement for the zero DP house project in Munjul, East Jakarta. In that case, Yoory is deemed to have caused state financial losses amounting to Rp152.5 billion and received a sentence of 6 years and 6 months in prison.
