TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators are investigating the alleged involvement of the 2019 KPK Chair, Firli Bahuri, in obstructing the investigation of the Harun Masiku case. This case also involves the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto.
"A former investigator stated that the old leadership was involved, whether the person concerned will be summoned, we are currently investigating this," said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu at his office, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
Asep said that statements from several former investigators would be followed up by confirming with other witnesses.
The name Firli Bahuri emerged from the statement of Ronald Paul Sinyal, a former KPK investigator in the Harun Masiku case. He said that Firli Bahuri was involved in obstructing the investigation.
He has also conveyed this information to investigators during this examination. "I said it was more than that. Yes, one of them that I can mention, yes, clearly from Firli Bahuri himself," said Ronald Paul Sinyal after undergoing an examination at the Red and White Building, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
He explained the obstruction carried out by Firli, namely prohibiting investigators from conducting searches, including at the PDIP DPP office or conducting examinations. "It's just that it's always said not to do it yet, it's hot and stuff," he said.
According to Ronald, efforts to obstruct the investigation of the Harun Masiku case only occurred during the 2019-2024 leadership period. "That's only what happened during the previous government's leadership," he said.
