TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singapore has once again taken the top spot as the world's strongest passport according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. Singaporean passport holders enjoy visa-free access to 193 out of the 227 countries and territories worldwide. The number of visa-free countries for Singaporean passport holders has slightly decreased from 195 destinations in the January version of the Henley Global Mobility Report.

The latest Henley Passport Index report, released by the England-based citizenship advisory firm Henley & Partners on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, highlights the increasing strength of passports from Asian countries. Following Singapore, Japan and South Korea share the second position with visa-free access to 190 destinations.

Indonesia's Ranking

Meanwhile, Indonesia is ranked 66th with visa-free access to 74 countries. Indonesia still ranks below Malaysia at 11th with visa-free access to 181 countries, Brunei at 19th with visa-free access to 164 countries, Timor Leste at 51st with visa-free access to 96 countries, and Thailand at 62nd with visa-free access to 81 countries.

The Henley Passport Index, which is updated monthly, is supported by exclusive data from Timatic of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This ranking is based on the number of destinations that various passport holders worldwide can enter without a prior visa.

Several Asian countries have seen significant improvements compared to the past, including India, which has unexpectedly jumped eight places from 85th to 77th in a span of six months. With two new destinations added, Indian passport holders can now travel to 59 destinations without a visa application.

Afghanistan remains at the bottom position with access to only 25 destinations requiring a prior visa.
