TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A security guard at Pejaten Office Park, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, approached Uki on Thursday, October 2, 2025, around 4am. He asked whether Uki had heard any suspicious sounds from the vacant lot behind the building where he worked. Uki was also a security guard, but for a logistics company.
The building where Uki worked stood right next to a row of shop-houses. The location was adjacent to the five-story Delta Spa Pejaten. Uki told the shop house guard that he had not heard anything. The guard turned around and left.
Shortly after the dawn call to prayer, Uki heard a woman screaming for help. The clock showed around 5am. But he ignored the cry. The shop-house guard returned soon after and asked the same question.
This time, Uki admitted he had heard a woman's voice. The guard then turned back to Delta Spa and returned with an employee from the massage and spa parlor. They waited outside while Uki checked the vacant lot behind the building.
He used a ladder, as the lot was blocked by a three-meter wall. "I saw someone lying there," Uki, 42, told Tempo on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
