TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Cakrawala Andalas Television or ANTV is reported to be carrying out large-scale layoffs in the production line. Employees of the television station under the auspices of PT Intermedia Capital Tbk (MDIA) owned by Viva Group shared their stories on social media.
One of the stories was uploaded by the TikTok account @bapaknyabify which stated the announcement of ANTV management layoffs on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. In the short video, it was stated that ANTV was laying off all employees in the production department. "Without leaving a single person behind," wrote the account in the video uploaded on Friday, December 20, 2024.
The news has also circulated on other social media such as X. A number of accounts have uploaded similar short videos. However, until now there has been no official statement from ANTV management regarding the certainty and number of employees who will be laid off.
Tempo has tried to contact the account owner since Saturday, December 21, 2024 but has not received a response. In addition, Tempo also tried to contact the Director of PT Visi Media Asia Tbk. or Viva, Neil R Tobing, as a representative of ANTV's parent company. However, messages sent or calls from Tempo have not been responded to until this news was published.
In a public expose uploaded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) disclosure page on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the company coded MDIA has continued to record a decline in revenue since 2021. In 2021, MDIA or the company that oversees ANTV posted revenue of IDR 1.35 trillion, dropping to IDR 1.26 trillion in 2022, then dropping again to IDR 778 billion in 2023.
In 2023, the net loss attributable to the parent owner was recorded at IDR 959.5 billion. ANTV and its parent entity are currently also undergoing a debt restructuring process after receiving a homologation decision at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court on November 8, 2024.
Meanwhile, ANTV is recorded as being ranked ninth in terms of TV share with 4.7 points as of November 2024. The company said that it is currently focusing on drama series, variety shows, and cinema which have so far been the niche segment of ANTV viewers.
On the other hand, ANTV is also strengthening its digital portfolio. Some of ANTV's digital portfolios include the Jagodangdut.com page which is a website for dangdut and the ANTV YouTube channel which currently has 5 million subscribers and Intipseleb with 2 million subscribers.
