TEMPO.CO, Garut - A obstetrician in Garut Regency, West Java, is suspected of committing sexual harassment against his patient. The video of the doctor's actions has gone viral on social media.
"We are still conducting an investigation," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Garut Police Resort, Commissioner Joko Prihatin on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Joko stated that so far, there have been no reports from the public to the police as victims of harassment. The police are still verifying the information circulating on social media. "The investigation process will take time, it would be easier if there were victims who come forward to report," he said.
Based on preliminary investigation results, the alleged abuse is suspected to have occurred in two locations where the doctor practices. However, the exact chronology of the incident is still unknown.
"Based on the information we obtained, the incident occurred last year in the city area. But we are waiting for further developments," Joko said.
The lewd act by the obstetrician was caught on CCTV. In a video shared on the Instagram account @ppdsgramm, it showed the obstetrician allegedly touching the pregnant woman's breasts while his right hand was holding the patient's belly during an ultrasound examination.
There are approximately 3,600 comments on the account, with the majority condemning and criticizing the doctor. However, some users have attempted to defend the doctor's inappropriate behavior.
"My wife was a victim. There’s still evidence of the chats, but she’s too scared to speak out," wrote @h.fahxxlfxxzi.
A user named Restunf also shared a similar experience, claiming it happened when she was between four and seven months pregnant. "I was touched inappropriately. At the time, I assumed it was part of a routine check-up, so I stayed silent," she said.
Another user, Putri, also came forward with a confession, stating her experience occurred in 2023. However, she chose not to speak up due to the lack of evidence. "Thank God someone finally had the courage to break the silence," she said.
The perpetrator also often approached his victims by asking for their WhatsApp number. He even promised the patients a free ultrasound examination.
"I almost became a victim. But I immediately reported it to the clinic's admin. The admin confirmed that the clinic never provides free ultrasound examinations," said @faxxyyn. Various comments mentioned that the lecherous obstetrician practices at Karya Harsa and Anisa Queen clinics.
