TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is predicted to be among the ten influential world leaders in 2025, according to Singaporean media outlet The Straits Times. As reported by Antara, Prabowo, alongside nine other presidents and prime ministers from various nations, is projected to be a key figure in global and regional affairs.
In an article titled "Meet the 10 world leaders to watch in 2025" published by The Straits Times on Saturday, January 4, 2025, Prabowo is featured alongside prominent figures such as the President-elect of the United States Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
President Prabowo's Media Team in Jakarta, in an official statement released on Sunday, explained that The Straits Times highlighted several key aspects that contributed to Prabowo's inclusion in this list of potentially influential global and regional leaders.
The Straits Times, in its analysis, suggested that Prabowo has the potential to become a dominant leadership figure within the region. The publication cited several decisive actions taken by Prabowo's government in multilateral forums, such as Indonesia's expressed interest in becoming a full member of BRICS, as evidence of this potential.
The Singaporean daily also emphasized Prabowo's international travels during his first 100 days as President, including visits to China and the United States within the same week. Prabowo also participated in APEC in Peru and the G20 Summit in Brazil.
Furthermore, The Straits Times posited that President Prabowo would support Malaysia and Prime Minister Anwar's leadership within ASEAN in 2025, specifically in implementing several priority economic cooperation programs, including cross-border investment, supply chain connectivity, sustainable development, and development geared towards economic growth.
Finally, The Straits Times noted that President Prabowo has demonstrated a willingness to pursue a distinct foreign policy approach compared to his predecessor, including strengthening relationships and increasing cooperation between Indonesia and both Russia and China.
