TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto said his overseas trip successfully bagged a total of US$18.5 billion, or Rp294.5 trillion. Prabowo said the investments showcase the optimism of partner countries towards the Indonesian economy.
"It exceeded the target. I believe this is quite good, showcases global trust in Indonesia’s economy,” he said in a press statement after attending the CEO Roundtable Forum at Lancaster House, London, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, cited from a video uploaded by the Presidential Secretariat.
In the CEO Roundtable Forum with 19 major British company leaders, Prabowo claimed investment commitments of US$8.5 billion, or around Rp135 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp 15,897).
In detail, the total investments bagged by Prabowo during his foreign tour come from British Petroleum's investment commitment of US$7 billion, US$1.5 billion from several other companies, and the previously obtained US$10 billion from the working visit to China.
Prabowo has been on an overseas tour since November 8, 2024. Before visiting the UK, this former Defense Minister had visited China, the United States, Peru for the APEC Summit, and Brazil for the G20 Summit.
Prabowo plans to return on November 23, 2024. However, on Thursday, November 21, the former son-in-law of Indonesia’s 2nd President Soeharto confirmed that he will extend his foreign visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
"I will head to the Emirates, Abu Dhabi, to be received on the 23rd. I’ll already be in Jakarta on the 24th,” said Prabowo in a press release in London on November 21, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat video.
Prabowo did not elaborate on his plans in the United Arab Emirates. He said many things will be discussed during his visit.
