TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Candidate number 3, Pramono Anung, conveyed his vision-mission regarding spatial planning and climate change mitigation in the final debate of the Jakarta gubernatorial election. In his presentation, Pramono said he would organize the city's neighborhoods without eviction.
"For me and Bang Doel (Rano Karno), organizing the neighborhood is not just about arranging it and then making it disappear. The neighborhood will still be preserved so that people can still find food in that neighborhood," said Pramono at the Golden Ballroom Hotel Sultan, South Jakarta, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
During campaigning and on-site visits, Pramono mentioned that he still found neighborhoods lacking adequate sanitation systems. Furthermore, he said there were residents sleeping one day in a house divided into three shifts.
To organize these neighborhoods, Pramono promised to provide affordable housing for residents. These decent residences will be built on state-owned enterprise (BUMD) or Jakarta government land.
Pramono highlighted the poor living conditions in these settlements, portrayed by the difficulty in accessing clean water. He said that currently only 44 percent of Jakarta residents can safely access clean water.
"Bang Doel and I promise that if elected in 2029, all Jakarta residents will have 100 percent access to clean water," Pramono said.
Regarding flood issues, Pramono mentioned the rainwater infiltration policy once proposed by Jakarta Governor 2017-2022, Anies Baswedan. He stated that he would continue the rainwater infiltration policy to reduce flood impacts in Jakarta.
"Bang Doel and I are not bosses. Both of us are servants for the people of Jakarta. We will serve with sincerity without empty promises," Pramono said.
After participating in the debate, each candidate will have a week to campaign and promote their vision-mission. The campaign period will end on Sunday, November 24. The voting will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The Jakarta gubernatorial election itself is contested by three pairs of candidates. They are Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana, and Pramono Anung-Rano Karno.
