TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President's Special Advisor on Political and Security Affairs, Retired TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) General Wiranto, stated that President Prabowo Subianto understands the eight demands of the TNI Retirees Forum. One of the demands is the replacement of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).
Prabowo understands the demands of the TNI Retirees Forum as he shares the same alma mater with the generals and colonels of the forum. Despite understanding this, Prabowo cannot directly respond to the demands.
According to Wiranto, for Prabowo, these demands are not easy. Therefore, Prabowo needs to study them first.
"Because these are weighty, very fundamental matters," he said at the Presidential Office, Central Jakarta, Thursday, April 24, 2025.
In addition, Wiranto stated that Prabowo cannot respond to the demands of the TNI Retirees Forum because it exceeds his presidential authority. According to Wiranto, Indonesia adheres to the Trias Politika system, which separates the Judiciary, Executive, and Legislative branches. This system limits the president's power.
"They cannot interfere in each other's domains. Therefore, proposals not within the president's jurisdiction will not be answered or responded to by the president," said Wiranto.
Wiranto added that when making a policy, Prabowo does not rely solely on one source. Prabowo will listen to many sources before making a decision.
Prabowo, according to Wiranto, also does not make decisions based on a single field. Prabowo considers many fields before making a decision. Therefore, if there is no response from Prabowo, such statements are incorrect. "So it is not like that," he said.
Wiranto added that Prabowo has asked the public to stop this polemic. Prabowo will not respond to the pros and cons. It will only cause disturbance.
"This will disrupt the harmony of our nation," he said.
The TNI Retirees Forum had previously presented eight political demands on several social media platforms. The eight points were signed by Retired TNI General Fachrul Razi, Retired TNI General Tyasno Soedarto, Retired TNI Admiral Slamet Soebijanto, and Retired TNI Marshal Hanafie Asnan in February 2025.
One of these is to suggest replacing Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to the MPR because the Constitutional Court's decision on Article 169 Letter Q of the Election Law has violated the Constitutional Court procedural law and the Judicial Power Law.
Other demands include reshuffling corrupt ministers and taking firm action against state officials and apparatuses still tied to the interests of the previous President, Joko Widodo, or Jokowi.
Tempo attempted to contact Retired TNI General Fachrul Razi for comment on these demands. However, he has not responded as of the publication of this news.
