TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The late founder of the Sinar Mas Group, Eka Tjipta Widjaja's grandchild, has reportedly purchased a luxury house in Singapore. The value of this property is SG$25 million.
As quoted from The Straits Times, Mimi Yuliana Maeloa bought a luxury house covering 767 square meters in the Chatsworth Avenue area. This area is close to the famous shopping center in the Merlion State, Orchard Road.
Singapore has several areas with fantastic prices for luxury houses. One of the elite residential areas often occupied by conglomerates is the Nassim Road housing complex, which is filled with high-end bungalows.
Here are five wealthy individuals who have purchased homes in elite areas of Singapore.
1. Eduardo Saverin
One of the founders of Facebook has also chosen to live in the luxurious residential area of Singapore, precisely in the Nassim Road area. With a total wealth of US$29 billion, Saverin chose a location occupied by many conglomerates as his place of residence.
2. Li Xiting
This Singapore conglomerate also resides in the same residential area as Saverin. As quoted from sgluxuryhomes.com, with a total wealth of US$12 billion from the medical device supply business under the company name Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical, he chose this location as his residence.
3. Shou Zi Chew
In 2021, Shou Zi Chew, the current CEO of TikTok, the largest video-sharing platform, was known to have purchased a luxury home in Singapore. He purchased an exclusive bungalow with a price tag of SG$86 million. Shou Zi Chew chose the Queen Astrid Park area, which is close to the rainforest and inhabited by many blue-blooded descendants, as reported by tatlerasia.com.
4. Ian Ang
One of Secretlab's founders reportedly bought two luxury properties worth SG$51 million within two weeks in 2021. The houses are located in Caldecott Hill Estate, consisting of a bungalow and Leedon Residence, a triplex penthouse.
5. James Dyson
The owner of the renowned vacuum cleaner company, Dyson, purchased a luxury property in England in 2019. As quoted from straittimes.com, he purchased a three-floor penthouse worth SG$100 million, complete with a swimming pool. He bought the house because he planned to move his company's headquarters to Singapore. Unfortunately, a year later, he resold the luxurious apartment.
6. Jackie Chen
The well-known senior actor, whose name is recognized by almost everyone on the planet, also owns a property in Orchard Residences. This kung fu actor is a permanent resident of Singapore and owns many properties there. However, there is no clearer report on the number and all the locations of his properties.
7. Jet Li
The Chinese-Singaporean martial artist also owns a luxurious house located on Bukit Timah Road, Binjai Park. With a price tag of SG$19.8 million, the house, covering 22,723 square feet, was purchased in 2009 as reported by Channel News Asia.
