TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a tectonic earthquake that shook parts of Bogor Regency and Sukabumi on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:08 a.m. local time. The agency recorded the quake with a magnitude of 3.2 based on updated data.

The quake's epicenter was located at coordinates 6.75 degrees south latitude and 106.57 degrees east longitude. "It was precisely located on land at a distance of 26 kilometers northeast of Sukabumi Regency, West Java," said the Head of BMKG Region II Tangerang, Hartanto, in a written statement.

The earthquake is classified as shallow, occurring at a depth of 6 kilometers due to active fault activity. According to public reports, the tremor was felt in the Kalapanunggal and Kabandungan areas at a III MMI intensity scale, which means it was felt inside homes as if a truck were passing by.

Meanwhile, in the Leuwiliang area, the earthquake was felt at an intensity scale of II-III MMI. The tremor was felt by several people and caused light hanging objects to sway, similar to the sensation of a passing truck felt from within a house.

As of now, according to the BMKG, there have been no reports of building damage resulting from the earthquake. As of 10:26 a.m. local time, there has been no subsequent aftershock activity recorded.
