TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ahead of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is tightening security at Pasar Senen Train Station, Central Jakarta. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager, Ixfan Hendriwintoko said that security involves the TNI, Polri, and the deployment of K9 dogs.
Ixfan said that the deployment of K9 dogs at Pasar Senen Station was to anticipate passengers carrying prohibited goods. KAI does not want the density of passengers to be used as a way for criminals to carry out their mode of smuggling drugs.
"If security uses K9 dogs, what is combed is probably if it is related to drugs or other things related to negative things," said Ixfan in his written statement, Sunday, November 22, 2024.
Furthermore, the use of K9 dogs at the station is used to strengthen security mobility at various points. According to him, additional security is to anticipate a surge in passengers during the Christmas and New Year period. Security is carried out from when prospective passengers arrive at the departure station to the final destination station.
"So for residents who will experience disruptions or anything or other things, please contact our officers here. So there was also security at the station yesterday from the K9 team. The purpose is to further increase security," said Ixfan.
In addition to security using K9 dogs at the station, the KAI security team also collaborated with Bhabinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas to secure every area passed by the train. Moreover, security was carried out in anticipation of rainy weather that could endanger train travel.
KAI appealed to prospective passengers who use train transportation services to arrive 1 hour earlier before the train departs. "For high season, the station entrance is usually crowded with private vehicles. I monitored this earlier in front of this station, especially Pasar Senen, there was a lot of congestion. So our appeal to customers heading to Pasar Senen Station is to leave early," he said.
