TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Police said there were four suspected offenders in the shooting that killed a car rental boss at KM 45 Rest Area of Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, Pabuaran Village, Jayanti District, Tangerang, Banten, early Thursday morning.
"Preliminary investigation finds there are four suspected offenders,” said Tangerang Police Chief Senior Commissioner Baktiar Joko Mujiono when confirmed on Friday, January 3, 2025.
Baktiar said the four suspected offenders were driving two cars when the shooting occurred, which resulted in the car rental boss, Ilyas Abdurahman, 48, being killed and severely injured his 60-year-old colleague, Ramli.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of Tangerang Police, Second Police Inspector Purbawa, said the police had also identified the four alleged perpetrators. “We have identified the perpetrators but are unable to reveal them to the public at this time. They are being pursued,” he said.
Purbawa said the police have questioned seven people, consisting of four witnesses who were at the scene and three people from the rental owner's family who were present at the time of the incident.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tangerang Police, Commissioner Arif N. Yusuf, explained that the incident began when a witness with the initials NN saw several cars chasing each other and stopped at the KM 45 Rest Area.
"From one of the black minibuses, the perpetrator allegedly fired five bullets, which hit two victims, IA in the chest and left hand and RM under the right armpit," he said.
