1. Indonesia Strengthens Strategic Cooperation with Melanesian Spearhead Group Countries

Amidst the Ministerial Meeting of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Countries, the Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arrmanatha Nasir, held a series of bilateral meetings respectively with Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Director General of MSG, and several Ministers of Vanuatu on November 29, 2024, local time. The meeting was to reaffirm the commitment of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen relations with MSG countries through concrete cooperation programs that address the needs of Pacific region development.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in a statement that this step is also a follow-up to the meetings of President Prabowo with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, the Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Charlot Salwai, and the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Jeremiah Manele, who attended President Prabowo's inauguration in October 2024 in Jakarta. The cooperation focuses discussed include development cooperation, health, education, and climate change impact mitigation.

2. Indonesian Embassy in The Hague Holds 'Indonesia Now' in the Netherlands

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in The Hague, the Netherlands on November 28, 2024, held two annual events titled "Indonesia Now" at the Indonesia House Amsterdam. The event was organized in collaboration between the KBRI in The Hague, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dutch Culture after previously being held in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022.

KBRI in The Hague explained that Indonesia Now serves as an effective open discussion platform, bridging the exchange of views between stakeholders in Indonesia and the Netherlands with a focus on future-oriented cooperation. Academics, policymakers, community representatives, as well as business people and creative workers, contributed to the event. They shared views and explored various potentials and examples of real cooperation for the advancement of the relationship between the two countries.

3. Canadian Media Group Sues ChatGPT Creators Over Copyright Infringement

A group of large Canadian news media, including CBC/Radio-Canada, Postmedia, Metroland, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, and Canadian Press, have jointly launched a lawsuit against the creator of ChatGPT, OpenAI, for copyright infringement.

The lawsuit was filed in the Ontario Superior Court on Friday morning, November 30, 2024. In their claim, they are seeking damages from OpenAI, as well as payment for the profits the company has gained from using news articles from these media organizations.
