The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:
1. South Korea Agrees to Transfer KF-21 Prototype to Indonesia
South Korea and Indonesia have agreed in principle to hand over one of six prototypes of South Korea's KF-21 fighter jet to Jakarta, a lawmaker said in Seoul on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as their joint development project nears completion.
In talks in February, the two sides agreed to hand over a single-seat KF-21 prototype used for verification tests, such as mid-air refueling, lawmaker Kang Dae-sik said, citing documents from the defense procurement agency.
The handover, valued at about 600 billion won (Rp6.8 trillion), includes the fighter jet worth 350 billion won (Rp3.9 trillion) and other development costs.
2. Israel Continues Strikes in Iran Despite Ceasefire Deal
The Israeli Air Force continues to carry out attacks in Iran, said a security official to The Times of Israel on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, despite US President Donald Trump and Iran agreeing to a ceasefire for two weeks.
Meanwhile, Iran has fired several salvoes of ballistic missiles at Israel since the ceasefire was reported to take effect.
Furthermore, although the Prime Minister of Pakistan stated that the ceasefire would also cover Lebanon, there is no indication that Israel has halted its operations against Hezbollah to date.
3. Indonesia Enforces 50-Liter Fuel Cap Until May 2026
The Indonesian government has limited the purchase of subsidized fuel such as Pertalite and Solar to 50 liters per day from April to May 2026. Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that this regulation is based on a circular issued by the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas). "Referring to that and it will apply for 2 months," he said during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Monday, April 6, 2026.
The 2-month implementation coincides with 8 policies regarding the national work culture transformation. The key points in it include the implementation of working from home for civil servants (ASN) every Friday, travel efficiency, and the recommendation of WFH one day a week for state-owned enterprises, regional state-owned enterprises, and private companies.
