TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US President Donald Trump was reportedly angry when Israel attacked a desalination plant in Iran a few weeks ago, according to an Axios report as cited by Antara on Tuesday, citing a senior US official.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that a water desalination plant on Iran's Qeshn Island had been hit.
"He wants to make sure that everything is proportional in this war. That's why he (Trump) was angry when Bibi (Netanyahu) attacked a desalination plant in Iran a few weeks ago," the official was quoted as saying by Axios.
On February 28, the US and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties.
Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
The US and Israel initially claimed their "preventive" attacks were necessary to counter the perceived threat posed by Iran's nuclear program, but they soon made it clear they wanted to bring about a change of power in Iran.
