TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States President Donald Trump has threatened that the "entire civilization will perish" in Iran on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, if the country does not comply with his ultimatum to accept U.S. war demands.

Trump's warning, as reported by France24, comes after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that they would respond outside the area and seize U.S. and ally oil and gas "for years" if Washington crosses Tehran's "red line."

"A whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will," Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social. "WHO KNOWS?"

Trump did not provide details, but has threatened that the U.S. military could bomb bridges, power plants, and other civilian infrastructure in Iran back to the "stone age." Attacks on civilian infrastructure would violate international law.

Trump has extended previous ultimatum deadlines but declared the 8 pm Washington time limit as the final one.

As reported by PBS, with rhetoric escalating on both sides, tensions among Iranians have heightened.

Trump has threatened to destroy all power plants and bridges in Iran if Tehran does not allow traffic to resume fully in the Strait of Hormuz. This waterway carries one-fifth of the world's oil during peacetime.

The President of Iran stated that 14 million people, including himself, have volunteered for war.

It is unclear if the recent air strikes are related to Trump's threat to attack bridges.

At least two targets connected to Iran's railway network, previously hinted at by Israel, were struck. Israel has increasingly conducted strikes aimed at crippling Iran's economy.

Attack on Kharg Island

Moments before the statement, Axios reported, citing an unnamed senior U.S. official, that the U.S. military carried out strikes on military targets in Kharg Island, Iran.

Mehr News Agency reported that U.S. and Israeli fighter jets conducted multiple air strikes on the island, causing numerous explosions.

Power on the island was reportedly cut off after attacks on 50 targets in the area.

Last week, Trump claimed that all military targets on Kharg Island "have been fully obliterated."

He also expressed an interest in "controlling" Iran's oil and hinted that seizing Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export terminal, is among the options being considered.

Attacks also took place on various railway lines in Iran. The Iranian Red Crescent stated that railway lines were targeted in Karaj and Qazvin, Iran. Meanwhile, a railway bridge in Zanjan province, Iran, was targeted in an attack, according to Iranian media citing a provincial official.

An explosive projectile hit a residential building in Shahriar, Iran, killing at least 9 people and injuring 15 others.

As reported by Anadolu, regional escalation has continued since Israel and the U.S. launched attacks on Iran on February 28, killing over 1,340 people, including the then Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities have not updated the casualty figures in the past few days.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets, resulting in casualties and infrastructure damage, disrupting global markets and flights.
