GOOTO.COM, Jakarta - The GT World Challenge Asia 2025 car race at the Sepang International Circuit marked the opening series of this season's calendar. The series commenced with high tension before moving on to Indonesia, specifically at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit (Mandalika Circuit) in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
In the second race on Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Johor Motorsport Racing (JMR) team secured the first position. The second position was filled by the Craft-Bamboo Racing team, while FAW Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom completed the podium in third place.
The main highlight came from the AM category, where two Indonesian racers successfully landed on the podium. David Tjiptobiantoro and Christian Colombo from Garage 75 emerged as the first champions using a Ferrari 296 GT3.
They were followed by Setiawan Santoso and Martin Berry from EBM in the second position with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. This result showcased the increasingly strong presence of Indonesian racers in the international car racing scene.
The Chief Executive Officer of Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandhi Satria, stated that this success is not only a source of pride for the Indonesian racing world, but also contributes to the promotion of the Mandalika Circuit as a leading sports tourism destination.
"GT World Challenge Asia is not just a racing event, but also a strategic platform to introduce Indonesia, especially Mandalika, to the global stage. Its appeal is not only in the world-class track, but also in the natural beauty and local culture that accompanies it," he said.
GT World Challenge Asia 2025 will continue the next series at the Mandalika Circuit on May 9-11, 2025. For MGPA and ITDC, the organization of this event is a tangible form of the commitment to develop the Mandalika Circuit into a national sports tourism center.
"Apart from sporting achievements, sports tourism also brings benefits to the growth of the tourism and regional economy, especially in West Nusa Tenggara," Priandhi concluded.
