TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tajikistan and North Korea rounded out the list of Asian teams qualifying for the 2025 U-17 World Cup, earning their spots by reaching the quarterfinals of the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup.
In the final matches of Group D in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, early on Saturday, April 12, 2025, Tajikistan won 3-1 against Iran on their home turf. Meanwhile, North Korea drew 2-2 with the host team, Oman.
These results led Tajikistan to top Group D. They collected six points, one ahead of North Korea. Both Oman (four points) and Iran (one point) were eliminated.
North Korea to Face Indonesia
In the quarterfinals of the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup, North Korea is set to face the Indonesian U-17 National Team. Garuda Muda advanced as Group C winners after securing three consecutive victories.
The Indonesia vs. North Korea clash is scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025. On the same day, Tajikistan will take on South Korea, the Group C runner-up.
The other quarterfinal matches will be held on April 13. Uzbekistan will face the United Arab Emirates, while Japan will compete against Saudi Arabia.
These eight teams from the quarterfinals have qualified for the 2025 U-17 World Cup. They will progress alongside Qatar, who will host the tournament set to take place in November.
