TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vietnam National Team has won the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup. They defeated the Indonesian U-23 National Team 1-0 in the final held at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 30.
One of the Vietnamese players, Viktor Le, mentioned that the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup trophy is very meaningful for their team. "This is always very meaningful for us. We can return to our country with the trophy. Everyone will be happy, and this is very valuable for the people of Vietnam," said Viktor when interviewed by journalists after the match.
This title marks the third consecutive championship for the Golden Star Warriors after 2022 and 2023, but it is the first time for Viktor, who was born in Moscow, Russia.
This is the second title for the 21-year-old footballer in his football career after winning with CSKA Moscow II in the Russian U-19 Champion in the 2021/2022 season. "Yes, this is my first title for Vietnam. Previously, I have also won a championship when I was still in Russia," he said.
In the final match, around 35,000 spectators were present at SUGBK, marking the highest number of attendees since the tournament was held in mid-July.
When asked about his feelings playing in front of tens of thousands of supporters, Viktor felt amazed. "It feels amazing. But I don't know what they say, maybe they are shouting bad words," Viktor said. "But I try to enjoy it, whether they say bad or good things. But the stadium atmosphere is amazing."
Vietnam secured their third trophy in the AFF U-23 Cup, while Indonesia remains with one championship title.
