TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi revealed that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's order for Perum Bulog to participate in distributing MinyaKita cooking oil has been implemented. The volume distributed by the state-owned company has the potential to increase.
"So far it has been running, tens of thousands of it has been running with Bulog. It's just that maybe the volume will be increased," said Arief to reporters in the Tangerang area, Banten, Sunday, December 22, 2024.
The direction for state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in the food sector to participate in distributing MinyaKita was conveyed by Prabowo in a meeting with 7,000 regional heads. According to Arief, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman were also present at the meeting.
In the meeting, according to Arief, Prabowo ordered that the distribution of MinyaKita should be through BUMN food, including Bulog. When asked whether the decision had been made, he said, "That was his order, so it must be prepared."
In addition to Bulog, Arief said, PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero) or RNI, a subsidiary of ID FOOD, was involved in the distribution flow.
The transfer of distribution to the food BUMN aims to raise the price of MinyaKita which has soared ahead of Christmas and New Year (nataru). In a hearing with Commission VI of the DPR, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso revealed that until Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the average national price of MinyaKita reached Rp17,000 per kilogram.
At that time, he said there were areas with prices higher than the highest retail price (HET). There are also those that are the same as HET. "But nationally it has indeed increased," he said.
The increase in the price of MinyaKita was mainly felt in the Eastern Indonesia region. There, the price of cooking oil is higher than the average national price. According to Budi Santoso, the price increase occurred by 8.8 percent above HET or Rp15,700.
Budi Santoso admitted that he had found the cause of the soaring price of Minyakita cooking oil. According to him, this price increase was caused by the formation of a longer distribution chain compared to the provisions in the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 18 of 2024.
"The distribution should be from producers, D1, D2, and retailers, but in the field there are several transactions from retailers to retailers," said Budi Santoso.
