TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple is reportedly planning a major overhaul of its digital assistant, Siri. This change is aimed at making it more advanced and competitive, especially to compete with platforms like ChatGPT from OpenAI and Google's Gemini Live.
Citing The Verge report on Sunday, November 24, 2024, this overhaul will involve the implementation of the latest artificial intelligence (AI) technology that will enhance Siri's ability to interact more naturally with users.
The new Siri, rumored to be called 'LLM Siri,' will be equipped with AI capabilities that allow this digital assistant to handle more complex conversations and provide more natural answers. With this update, Siri is expected to better understand the context of conversations, making it more flexible in providing relevant responses according to user needs.
In addition to conversation capabilities, this update will also make Siri more robust in handling various complex tasks. One of the new features to be introduced is Siri's ability to interact with third-party applications through App Intents feature, allowing users to access various app functions more easily. Siri will also be empowered by Apple Intelligence for summarizing and writing texts, further aiding users in completing daily tasks.
Apple is expected to replace the basic software of Siri with this new system in the spring of 2026. However, the company is likely to announce this update earlier, in line with their plans to continue developing AI capabilities on their devices.
