TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The first Health Education Accreditation Agency in Indonesia, LAM-PTKes, held an international seminar entitled Asia Africa Quality Forum, International Conference: Improving Collaboration to Enhance Quality of Health Profession Education in Asia and Africa.

The event took place on December 4-6, 2024, at the Mercure Convention Center Hotel, Ancol, North Jakarta.

LAM-PTKes stated its commitment to advancing global health education by supporting the World Health Organization's vision on health workforce related to health education accreditation.

"Indonesia continues to push for international recognition for healthcare professionals, in line with the global 2024 target," said LAM-PTKes Chairman Usman Chatib Warsa, quoted from an official statement on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Usman expressed that this forum serves as a platform for best practices, resources, and innovations in accreditation and quality improvement in the field of medical and health education, while also building a sustainable network through dialogue and collaboration among health educators worldwide, especially in Asia and Africa.

Usman stated that through LAM-PTKes accreditation and international recognition, Indonesian doctors are now globally recognized, including by the United States.

According to Usman, this step supports equality based on the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) applied not only to doctors but also to dentists and nurses, enabling the exchange of healthcare professionals between countries.

President of the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) Ricardo Len-Brquez stated that Africa-Asia collaboration to enhance the quality of medical education is a crucial step in human resource development.

He revealed that this collaboration effort has been ongoing since 1955 and has continued to evolve through meetings in Bali in 2022.

"Now, a strategic agreement has been signed to strengthen this collaboration," said Brquez.

Furthermore, LAM-PTKes also strengthens relationships among health education organizations both domestically and internationally through the signing of the Cooperation Agreement within the Asia Africa Quality Assurance for Higher Education in Health (AAQAHEH) Forum.

The agreement includes a shared commitment to establish the Asia Africa Quality Forum (AAQF) and enhance efforts to improve the quality of Health Education to support WHO's strategy. The parties are committed to working together to achieve goals and uphold its principles.

"The signing of the AAQF 2024 agreement is a tangible step in fostering cooperation to enhance the quality of health education," said the Coordinator of the AAQF 2024 Arum Atmawikarta.
