TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) and PT Mandiri Capital Indonesia (MCI) have today officially collaborated through the BTN Fund Venture Fund strategic partnership. The initiative is designed to drive the growth of BTN's core business by investing in start-up companies that can provide technology-based solutions. Targeted business sectors include housing, construction, financial and banking services, software, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).
Ronald S. Simorangkir, President Director of MCI, said “This collaboration with BTN is in line with MCI's strategy to encourage economic growth, especially in strategic sectors which are also a priority for government programs including Housing, Strengthening MSMEs, Digital Economy, and ESG. With the collaboration of the strengths of BTN and MCI, we are optimistic that we can encourage the creation of innovation and integration of an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem in Indonesia.”
The strategic partnership between BTN and MCI in the form of BTN Fund opens up investment opportunities in start-up companies that can provide added value to BTN's business ecosystem that supports BTN's transformation and digitalization process. In carrying out the investment process, BTN Fund prioritizes the principles of risk management and prudence by considering the business fundamentals and financial performance of start-up companies before making investments.
Furthermore, Setiyo Wibowo, BTN's Director of Risk Management, said, “BTN hopes that the establishment of BTN Fund can help BTN have strategic partners in the form of Fintech, Proptech, or Startups in the field of AI and operations that can support the development of the housing and financial ecosystem. This is in line with BTN's vision and mission, which is “To be a Major Partner in the Financial Empowerment of Indonesian Families”, where BTN will become a major bank that serves the financial needs of Indonesian families as a whole and beyond the mortgage.”
