TEMPO.CO, Banyuwangi - Banyuwangi Regency in East Java, is predicted to be one of the prominrnt tourist destinations during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) holiday season. This will also affect the passenger traffic at Banyuwangi Airport.
General Manager of Angkasa Pura Indonesia Banyuwangi Airport Branch Office, Johandi Seno Acton, estimated that Banyuwangi Airport will experience a 30 percent increase in tourist visits during the upcoming Nataru holidays.
"The peak arrival is predicted to occur on December 21 and during the return on December 30," said Johandi Seno Acton through a written statement quoted by TEMPO, Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Johandi said that to anticipate this surge in passengers, they would prepare a post and additional flight frequency on December 29, served by Batik Air.
Monitor Banyuwangi Airport's Readiness
The Ministry of Tourism took the time to monitor Banyuwangi Airport's readiness to accommodate tourist arrivals during the upcoming Nataru holidays. The inspection was directly conducted by Deputy Minister of Tourism RI, Ni Luh Enik Ermawati, also known as Ni Luh Puspa, during her visit to Banyuwangi on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Ni Luh Puspa aims to ensure Banyuwangi Airport's readiness in facing the potential surge in passengers during this Nataru moment. The former television journalist directly examined the readiness of the facilities and infrastructure at Banyuwangi Airport. Following the inspection, Ni Luh confirmed that Banyuwangi Airport is ready to welcome tourists who will visit at the end of the year.
"I have checked several facilities, from toilets to waiting rooms, everything is good. Even Banyuwangi Airport also offers experiences to visitors. One of them is live angklung paglak music. This is interesting. Hopefully, more people will come to Banyuwangi in the future," said Ni Luh.
3B Travel Package
According to Ni Luh, Banyuwangi has a great opportunity to experience a surge in tourist visits because of the constantly developing tourist destinations.
Moreover, the currently available travel package connecting destinations in Banyuwangi-North Bali-West Bali (3B), opens more opportunities for increased tourist visits to Banyuwangi.
The Acting Secretary of Banyuwangi Regency, Guntur Priambodo, said that Banyuwangi is ready to welcome tourists. One of the efforts is by continuously enhancing and completing the regional tourism infrastructure.
"Access to Banyuwangi is easier with the airport, then the availability of increasingly adequate accommodations, and attractions being scheduled throughout the year will be an attraction for tourists to visit Banyuwangi," said Guntur.
