TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dewi Lestari (DL), the younger sister of Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman, has been reported to the Cianjur Police on suspicion of project manipulation. The police have named DL as a suspect and taken her into custody.

Cianjur Police Criminal Investigation Division chief Adj. Comr. Tono Listianto said that based on the report of victim Yosep Sobandi, suspect DL was accused of committing project fraud resulting in a loss of Rp500 million.

"We have investigated DL and she has been named as a suspect. She is currently being detained," Tono told reporters at the Cianjur police station on Tuesday, November 5.

Tono assured that the case was not related to the political contest for the 2024 Cianjur regional head election. Herman Suherman, the suspect's older brother, is currently the incumbent running again with Muhamad Solih Ibang as his deputy candidate.

"There is no political connection, this is purely a criminal fraud case reported by the victim," Tono said.

Tono added that the suspect has been charged with fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman confirmed that DL is his younger sister. Herman said that he had reminded his sister a long time ago not to mess around with projects. "I reminded her not to play with projects. It is not allowed," Herman said.

Herman left the alleged fraud case entirely to law enforcement. "That's her risk to bear," Herman said.
