TEMPO.CO, Sukoharjo - Suspected terrorist with the initials 'SQ', a resident of Sumenep Regency, Madura, who was arrested by the Special Detachment Team or Densus 88 Anti-terror Team of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters in the Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, is known by local residents as a reserved figure. He was arrested on Monday, November 4, 2024.
SQ along with his family has been living in the Waru Village, Baki Sub-district, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java for about 2 years.
From information gathered by Tempo, after the arrest of SQ in Karanganyar Regency, Densus 88 immediately searched the boarding house where SQ lived in Waru Village, Baki Sub-district, Sukoharjo Regency.
Village Head of Waru, Pardijo Siswomartono, mentioned that SQ along with his family occupied a boarding house owned by a resident of Dukuh Tegalan Waru. SQ rarely interacted with the surrounding residents in the neighborhood of his residence.
According to information, SQ worked at a tahfiz school in the Baki Sub-district area. However, Pardijo stated that he did not know for sure the profession of the man from Sumenep.
According to information from the villagers, SQ's wife worked as a cupping massage therapist. "His wife does cupping massage for women in the community. However, on a daily basis, he is reserved, does not want to associate with the community. Invited to socialize but refused," said Pardijo when approached by reporters at the Waru Village Office, Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
During the search at SQ's boarding house, Pardijo revealed that Densus 88 secured around 12 pieces of evidence suspected to be related to terrorism networks. "During the search, I was just a witness, there were several discoveries by Densus 88," he said.
Yesterday, Densus 88 of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters arrested three suspected terrorists in three different locations. One of the three suspected terrorists was arrested in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. On Monday afternoon, Densus 88 also searched a boarding house in Waru Village, Baki Sub-district, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, where SQ and his family lived.
Head of the Public Relations Division of the Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Artanto confirmed the arrest of suspected terrorists by the Densus 88 Team. "Yesterday, three suspected terrorists were arrested by Densus 88 of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters, with the arrest locations in Kudus, Demak, and Solo (Karanganyar)," said Artanto in a brief message sent via WhatsApp to Tempo, Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
