TEMPO.CO, Sukoharjo - The Indonesian National Police's Special Detachment 88 Counterterrorism (Densus 88) arrested three suspected terrorists at three different locations in Central Java on Monday, November 4, 2024. Tempo received information that one of these arrests took place in Karanganyar Regency.

Concurrently, Densus 88 conducted a search operation at a boarding house in Waru Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency. This boarding house is linked to the suspected terrorist apprehended in Karanganyar.

Central Java Police Public Relations Division Head, Grand Commissioner Artanto, confirmed the arrests. “Yesterday, Densus 88 arrested three suspected terrorists in Kudus, Demak, and Solo (Karanganyar),” Artanto said via WhatsApp on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

However, Artanto declined to provide further details, citing the Indonesian National Police Headquarters' jurisdiction over the matter. He also expressed uncertainty about the specific terrorist network involved. “Further information will be released by the Indonesian National Police Headquarters,” he added.

According to sources, the suspected terrorist arrested in Karanganyar, identified only by the initials SQ, is a resident of Sumenep Regency, East Java. SQ was residing in a boarding house in Dukuh Tegalan Waru, Waru Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency.

Waru Village Head, Pardijo Siswomartono, confirmed the Densus 88 search operation, in which he participated as a witness alongside the Development Officer, Suryanto.

“The search commenced around 4 p.m. and concluded near dusk, around 6:30 p.m.,” Pardijo explained.

Pardijo noted that SQ's wife was present during the search. Densus 88 seized approximately 12 items from the boarding house. When asked about the specific terrorist network, Pardijo emphasized his role as a mere observer during the operation. “I was just a witness, observing the search,” he stated.
