TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -- Jakarta Gubernatorial candidate Dharma Pongrekun stated that his preparations for the upcoming gubernatorial election (pilgub) debate held at Beach City International Stadium, North Jakarta. According to him, many interesting things happened during the campaign that can be explained in the upcoming debate session. "It's quite interesting. It's just a matter of how we elaborate on what we have found in the field," said Dharma when meeting with the media at his winning house on Jl. Antasari No. 12 A, West Cilandak, South Jakarta, before heading to the debate.
After collecting issues from the people of Jakarta during the campaign, the retired three-star general stated that he was looking for a pattern or program that could help solve them. However, the second number gubernatorial candidate was reluctant to disclose what that program was.
Regarding debate preparation, Dharma stated that he is someone who is not easily satisfied with the prepared material. He affirmed that he will continue to improve his abilities and be wiser in facing every challenge.
In examining the debate material, Dharma mentioned that he did not involve experts or specialists to assist him. He argued, "We don't have the funds. We are independent."
In this second debate, the General Election Commission (KPU) has the theme of Economy and Social Welfare. When asked about efforts to improve social welfare, Dharma did not elaborate. "Later, later," he said.
Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardhana departed from his winning house in the South Jakarta area. The two independent candidate pairs were dressed in matching long-sleeved white shirts. Based on Tempo's observation, they left the location around 18.19 WIB.
KPU Jakarta organized the second debate for three pairs of gubernatorial candidates and their deputies, namely Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana, and Pramono Anung-Rano Karno. The debate took place on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 19.00 WIB, at Beach City International Stadium, North Jakarta.
There are different mechanisms in the implementation of this second debate. Seven representatives of community groups were invited to channel their aspirations to the panelists, which would then be formulated into questions. "So that these panelists can delve deeper into issues related to the economy and social welfare directly from the people who feel it," said the Head of the Socialization, Voter Education, and Public Participation Division of KPU Jakarta, Astri Megatari, during a meeting at the KPU Jakarta building on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
The debate theme is "Economy and Social Welfare". There are six sub-themes: integrated infrastructure and excellent basic services; education and health; addressing social inequalities; digital economic development and MSMEs; tourism and creative economy; and basic food price inflation.
