TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) plans to hold a plenary meeting to ratify the State-Owned Enterprises Bill (BUMN Bill) into law on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

"The plan is Tuesday (next week)," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad after attending a meeting to take the first level of the BUMN Bill, at Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Jakarta, Saturday, February 1, 2025.

This meeting was also attended by government representatives, namely Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono, and Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmodjo. This plenary meeting was led by Chairperson of Commission VI of the House of Representatives Anggia Ermarini.

In the meeting, all party factions in Commission VI of the House of Representatives stated that they agreed that the BUMN Bill concerning amendments to Number 19/2003 concerning BUMN be brought to a plenary meeting. The discussion of this draft law has been discussed previously by the working committee.

Previously, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir had attended the DPR Commission VI working meeting on Thursday, January 23, 2025. In the meeting discussing the BUMN Bill, the DPR and government representatives who were present also discussed BP Danantara.

The government, said Erick, agrees with the DPR regarding the need and urgency of drafting the third amendment bill to Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning BUMN. He welcomed the acceleration of the BUMN Bill proposed by the DPR. Erick said that one of the reasons the DPR accelerated the BUMN Bill was because they were paying attention to the issue of restructuring in BUMN.

"Yesterday, the leadership of Commission VI already had points A, B, C, D, E. Well, we welcome it, because one of them is the restructuring point," said Erick when met in the north lobby of the Ministry of SOEs, on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Erick said that so far the government has closed BUMN companies that are not managed well and whose improvements are not optimal. According to Erick, the process takes a long time. So, he hopes that with the BUMN Bill, the process can be shorter.

However, Erick was reluctant to go into further detail because according to him, there is a working committee from the DPR that has more authority. "So I don't want to get ahead of the contents because I don't know the contents yet," said Erick.
