TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will begin a visit to the United States on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, to meet with US President Donald Trump, his office said, as reported by Anadolu.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will depart tomorrow morning for his meeting with US President Donald Trump,” the prime minister’s office wrote in X on Saturday.
He “will be the first foreign leader that US President Trump meets after his inauguration,” the statement said. “The two will discuss Gaza, the hostages, dealing with all components of the Iranian axis and other key issues.”
Earlier, Netanyahu’s office said Trump had invited the prime minister to meet him at the White House on Feb. 4.
Netanyahu’s visit will be his first international visit since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him in November 2024.
The arrest warrant was issued on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity against Palestinians in Gaza. During the 15-month genocide in Gaza, at least 47,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were killed.
In fact, the leading medical journal The Lancet, reported that the death toll in Gaza until June 2024 reached more than 70,000 people.
