Last Friday night, November 8, 2024, TEM Presents and PK Entertainment as the promoters announced the cancellation of the New Rules singer's Radical Optimism Tour concert in Jakarta which was highly anticipated and scheduled for November 9, 2024, at Indonesia Arena,
"Due to unexpected security and logistical issues, TEM Presents & PK Entertainment regretfully announced the cancellation of Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism Tour in Jakarta which was highly anticipated and scheduled for November 9, 2024, at Indonesia Arena," wrote the promoters on their official social media account.
Furthermore, they mentioned that Dua Lipa was actually ready to perform the next day. However, the main reason for canceling the concert one day before the event is the stage issue deemed unsafe for both the artist and the audience.
"The whole team made great efforts to overcome the production challenges related to the stage structure provided by Mata Elang Productions, it was unsafe for the concert to proceed," wrote the promoters.
Concert Cancellation Has Negative Impact on Tourism Image
In response to the cancellation of Dua Lipa's concert in Jakarta, Special Envoy of the President for Tourism, Zita Anjani expressed profound concern through her Instagram story regarding the sudden cancellation of Dua Lipa's concert which was supposed to be held at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on November 9, 2024.
This sudden cancellation occurred just one day before the event due to unforeseen safety and logistical issues. "I deeply regret the cancellation of Dua Lipa's concert in Jakarta. This incident has the potential to negatively impact Indonesia's tourism image in the eyes of the world, considering that international concerts like this can attract foreign tourists and boost the country's foreign exchange," said Zita Anjani.
Nevertheless, Zita Anjani extends full support to music promoters and event organizers in Indonesia to continuously improve operational and safety standards.
"I urge promoters to always ensure that every aspect of event production meets international standards. Through this, Indonesia can become a preferred destination for global artists to hold concerts that will ultimately enhance the tourism sector," she added.
Zita also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, event organizers, and other stakeholders to ensure that Indonesia is ready to host international-scale events. "We must work together to build Indonesia's reputation as a safe, professional, and friendly country for artists and tourists," she hoped.
