TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - OpenAI has released Operator, an AI agent that can perform tasks automatically based on user instructions, for ChatGPT Pro subscribers. As quoted from Tech Crunch, Operator is now available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and other countries.

Operators will be available in most regions that support ChatGPT, except for the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

Previously, Operator was first introduced in the United States in January 2025. This software allows users to do various tasks such as ordering tickets, making restaurant reservations, submitting expense reports, and shopping online.

Operator is currently available only to ChatGPT Pro subscribers for US$200 or around Rp3.2 million per month and can be accessed through a dedicated web page. OpenAI plans to expand Operator access to all ChatGPT users.

Operator competes with similar AI agents from Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit. Google is still in the waiting list stage, Anthropic offers access through an API, while Rabbit's action model is only available to their device users.

As reported by Antara, OpenAI stated that the Operator is powered by the Computer-Using Agent or CUA model, which combines the capabilities of its GPT-40 model with the reasoning abilities of its more advanced OpenAI model. As a result, CUA can use buttons, navigate menus, and fill out web forms like a human would.

OpenAI is also said to be collaborating with companies such as DoorDash, eBay, Instacart, Priceline, StubHub, and Uber to ensure that the operator respects these companies' terms of service agreements.
