TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards 2025) were broadcast live on Netflix on Monday morning, February 24, 2025, Indonesian time.
The film 'Conclave', which depicts the election of a new Pope, won the top honor for Best Film Cast.
The cast of 'Conclave', featuring Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Sergio Castellitto, and Isabella Rossellini, gathered on stage to receive the award at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Fiennes thanked producer Tessa Ross, director Edward Berger, and the Italian film crew for their collaboration on the film.
"We had a blessed time with Edward, whose intelligence and perception and insight and care of us has I think brought us the gift of our community of ensemble," said Fiennes, quoted by People.
The 31st SAG Awards was also filled with tributes to Los Angeles as it was recovering from the recent forest fires in January.
“The city and the people in it have been put through the ringer, and though this room is full of sparkles and glamor and also what the kids are calling ‘rizz’, the most attractive tables I need to point out are right over there," said Kristen, gestured to the LA firefighters seated in the audience, as quoted by Deadline.
“There is no way to properly express our gratitude to all of you. Words won’t do it. Invitations to these events won’t do it,” she added.
This year, Julia Louis-Dreyfus presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Jane Fonda. The actress and activist praised the labor union in her acceptance speech. She touched on the political environment and Donald Trump's administration's efforts to cut federal jobs.
“A whole lot of people are going to be really hurt by what is happening,” she said, quoted by Variety. "Even if they have different political views, we don't need to judge but listen from our hearts."
