TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will hold a National Conference (Munas) on Thursday, January 16, 2025. The conference will determine the end of the dualism polemic in the Kadin management between the Arsjad Rasjid camp and the Anindya Novyan Bakrie camp.
The Kadin dualism emerged after Arsjad and Anindya both claimed the chair of the organization. On September 14, 2024, a number of Kadin administrators held an Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub) which resulted in the election of Anindya as the Kadin General Chair for the 2024-2029 period. Arsjad's camp, who is the Kadin General Chair for the 2021-2026 period, did not recognize the results of the Munaslub at that time.
Through a written invitation, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the holding of the National Conference of the Consolidation of Indonesian Unity which will take place at 13:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) today at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Mega Kuningan, Jakarta. The announcement was signed by the Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rosan Roeslani.
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the event. In addition, Rosan Roeslani also signed an invitation letter for 35 Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairmen.
This congress will recognize Anindya Bakrie's leadership as the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the 2024-2029 period. Arsjad Rasjid will also attend and receive a new position through the congress. "The National Conference of the Consolidation of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a single agenda, the Inauguration of the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anindya Novyan Bakrie and the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry M. Arsjad Rasyid P.M. for the 2024-2029 term," as written in the invitation.
Arsjad confirmed his planned attendance at the event. Through a statement he sent to Tempo on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Arsjad said he would submit an accountability report for his leadership at Kadin for the past four years. In the same statement, Arsjad claimed he would be committed to fighting for the interests of the business world and strengthening relations between the private sector and the government.
At the end of September 2024, Arsjad Rasjid and Anindya Bakrie also met with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia. At that time, Arsjad Rasjid said he and Anindya Bakrie had found a solution to the dualism of Kadin's management.
"We have found a solution, a solution that is perpendicular to the rules. The solution taken in a very warm discussion, a solution with the same spirit for the progress of the Indonesian economy which ultimately prospers the Indonesian people," said Arsjad Rasjid in a video received by Tempo on Friday night, September 27, 2024.
In the video of their third meeting received by Tempo, Bahlil signaled that the feud between Arsjad Rasjid and Anindya Bakrie would find a bright spot. Bahlil brought Arsjad Rasjid and Anindya Bakrie together at his official residence on Friday afternoon, September 27, 2024. "Both of them have realized to run the organization well. They are already established. We have met, we have forgiven each other," said Bahlil.
Bahlil also said that there is only one Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. "I became the joint caterer. There is one Chamber of Commerce and Industry, there cannot be two," said Bahlil.
